Gloves that feel the force: new tech could make brain surgery safer

NCT ID NCT07372638

Not yet recruiting Knowledge-focused Sponsor: NHS Lothian Source: ClinicalTrials.gov ↗

Summary

This study is testing special surgical gloves with built-in sensors to measure the forces surgeons use during brain aneurysm procedures. Surgeons will practice placing a medical device in a realistic 3D-printed model while wearing these gloves. Researchers want to see if the glove sensors can detect meaningful force patterns and if they can tell the difference between experienced and trainee surgeons.
