Gastric bypass limb lengths: a metabolic mystery unraveled

NCT ID NCT05471037

First seen May 09, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 4 times

Summary

This study looks at how changing the length of the small intestine during gastric bypass surgery affects metabolism and inflammation in people with severe obesity. Researchers will measure glucose tolerance and other metabolic markers before and 6-8 months after surgery in 65 participants, including 15 healthy lean controls. The goal is to understand the body's response to the surgery, not to test a new treatment.
