Can a smart bassinet help preterm babies sleep better?
NCT ID NCT05711927
First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 28 times
Summary
This study looked at whether a special bassinet called the SNOO Smart Sleeper, which plays white noise and rocks gently, helps preterm infants sleep more peacefully and have better vital signs compared to a standard bassinet. Twenty preterm infants in the NICU each spent three hours in the SNOO and three hours in a still bassinet, with their sleep stages, heart rate, and oxygen levels monitored. The goal was to see if the SNOO increases quiet sleep time, which is a sign of healthy sleep development.
