New hope for veterans: can a sleep aid boost CPAP use?

NCT ID NCT03937713

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study looked at 53 veterans with PTSD, sleep apnea, and insomnia who were not using their CPAP machines regularly. Researchers compared adding a sleep medication (eszopiclone) to brief behavioral therapy versus therapy alone. The goal was to see if the combination improved sleep quality, PTSD symptoms, and CPAP adherence. Results may help find better ways to treat complex sleep issues in veterans.
