First seen Apr 25, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 7 times
Summary
This study looked at how missing a full night of sleep affects shortness of breath and exercise ability in people with COPD. Twenty adults with COPD completed two tests: one after a normal night's sleep and one after staying awake all night. Researchers measured how hard it felt to breathe during a cycling exercise to see if sleep loss made symptoms worse.
