Smartwatch could spot hidden sleep apnea in millions
NCT ID NCT04496843
First seen Feb 25, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 11 times
Summary
This study tests whether a Withings smartwatch (HWA09) can accurately detect sleep apnea by tracking movement, heart rate, breathing, and blood oxygen. About 220 adults who already need a sleep lab test will wear the watch overnight. The goal is to see if the watch can reliably screen for sleep apnea, which often goes undiagnosed due to the cost and hassle of lab tests.
