First seen Apr 19, 2026 · Last updated Jun 18, 2026 · Updated 11 times

Summary

This study tested whether holding a newborn skin-to-skin right after a C-section (within 5 minutes) or within the first hour helps with breastfeeding, reduces anxiety, and keeps mom and baby healthy. 92 mothers and their newborns took part. The results showed that early contact can improve breastfeeding success and lower anxiety, with no harm to either mom or baby.
