Second chance radiation: testing retreatment for tough skin cancers
NCT ID NCT04540588
Summary
This study tested whether giving a second round of targeted alpha radiation therapy is safe and effective for skin, mouth, or soft tissue cancers that came back or didn't fully disappear after the first treatment. Researchers inserted tiny radioactive seeds directly into tumors to deliver concentrated radiation while minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissue. They measured whether tumors shrank and monitored patients for side effects.
