Cheap training model may be as good as expensive one for rare emergency skill

NCT ID NCT06687395

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 30 times

Summary

This study looked at whether doctors remember how to perform a rare emergency airway procedure (FONA) three to four months after training. 44 resident doctors were randomly assigned to train on either a commercial model or a low-cost self-made model. The goal was to see if the cheaper model works just as well for long-term skill retention.
