New balloon catheter shows promise for unclogging heart arteries
NCT ID NCT05509296
First seen Apr 01, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 7 times
Summary
This study tested a new balloon catheter called SINOMED CBC in 136 people with narrowed heart arteries. The goal was to see if it can safely open blockages and improve blood flow during a procedure called PCI. The balloon is used to widen the artery, often followed by placing a stent to keep it open. This is a treatment to control the disease, not a cure, as patients may still need ongoing care.
