First seen May 07, 2026 · Last updated Jun 18, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study tests whether a single surgery using implants coated with an antibiotic-releasing hydrogel can prevent infection recurrence as well as the standard two-stage surgery in people with chronic hip prosthesis infections. The single-stage approach aims to reduce hospital stays and complications like stiffness and pain. The trial enrolled 39 adults with confirmed chronic hip infections.
