NCT ID NCT04251377

First seen May 07, 2026 · Last updated May 07, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether a single surgery using implants coated with an antibiotic hydrogel can prevent repeat infections in people with an infected hip replacement, compared to the usual two-surgery approach. About 39 adults with chronic hip implant infections will take part. The single surgery aims to shorten hospital stays and reduce complications like stiffness and pain, while the coating helps stop bacteria from sticking to the new implant.
