Summary
This study looked at whether a common step in kidney stone surgery—placing a tube from the bladder into the ureter—can be safely skipped. 140 adults with large kidney stones (over 2 cm) were randomly assigned to receive the standard surgery with the tube or a modified version without it. The goal was to see if skipping the tube could shorten surgery time and reduce infection risk while still effectively removing stones.
