Stool gene test could make h. pylori treatment simpler and more effective

NCT ID NCT07439445

First seen Mar 28, 2026 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study tests a simpler treatment for H. pylori infection, a stomach bug that can cause ulcers. Researchers use a stool test to check if the bacteria are resistant to the antibiotic clarithromycin. If not resistant, patients take a two-drug combination (vonoprazan and clarithromycin) for 14 days. The goal is to see if this approach works well, causes fewer side effects, and is easier for patients to follow. About 70 adults who have never been treated for H. pylori will participate.
