Silver-Lined hope: new hip implant coating fights deadly infections
NCT ID NCT06737809
Summary
This study is testing whether a new silver-coated hip replacement implant can reduce the risk of serious infections in patients who need a second hip replacement surgery because their first one became infected. About 268 patients will be randomly assigned to receive either a standard implant or the new silver-coated version. Researchers will monitor patients for one year to see if the coated implant leads to fewer infections and is safe to use.
