Hushed hospitals: can turning off ICU alarms heal patients and staff?

NCT ID NCT07364097

Summary

This study is testing whether removing the constant noise from medical alarms in intensive care units (ICUs) can help patients and staff. For four weeks, some units will use a silent alarm system, while others will use normal alarms. Researchers will measure patient confusion, staff burnout, noise levels, and how quickly nurses respond to emergencies.
