This study aimed to understand how the health of small and large blood vessels relates to the severity of sickle cell disease in adults. Researchers enrolled 49 participants to measure blood vessel function, physical fitness, and various blood markers while they were in a stable health period. The goal was to gather knowledge to help explain why some people experience more frequent pain crises and complications than others.
