New screening method could catch kidney problems early in sickle cell patients
NCT ID NCT05211037
First seen Apr 04, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 8 times
Summary
This study looked at whether a special kidney scan (scintigraphy) can find early kidney damage in children and young adults with sickle cell disease. Standard tests often miss these problems until they are advanced. The goal was to improve annual check-ups so that kidney issues can be caught sooner.
