New hope for boosting energy in sickle cell patients

NCT ID NCT07282210

Summary

This study is testing whether a daily pill called SIL-8301 can improve anemia (low red blood cell count) in people with sickle cell disease who are already taking the standard medication hydroxyurea. About 105 participants, aged 16-35, will take either the study drug or a placebo daily for up to 24 weeks while continuing their usual hydroxyurea. Researchers will measure changes in hemoglobin levels, markers of red blood cell destruction, walking ability, and quality of life.
