New shoulder block may offer safer pain relief during surgery
NCT ID NCT07173894
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 26 times
Summary
This study compares two types of anesthesia for shoulder surgery: the standard interscalene block and a newer shoulder field block. The goal is to see if the field block provides equally effective pain relief but with fewer side effects like breathing problems or arm weakness. About 64 adults scheduled for shoulder surgery will be randomly assigned to one of the two methods, and their pain levels, satisfaction, and complications will be tracked for 48 hours after surgery.
