New shoulder block could reduce breathing problems after surgery

NCT ID NCT07173894

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study compares two types of anesthesia for shoulder surgery: the standard interscalene block and a newer shoulder field block. The goal is to see if the field block provides equally effective pain relief with fewer side effects like breathing trouble or arm weakness. About 64 adults having shoulder surgery will be randomly assigned to one of the two methods, and their pain, satisfaction, and recovery will be tracked.
