New tool could cut unnecessary shoulder X-Rays in half
NCT ID NCT07564024
First seen May 09, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 3 times
Summary
This study aims to create a simple, reliable tool to help doctors decide when shoulder X-rays are not needed after an injury. Many patients get X-rays even when a fracture is unlikely, causing extra costs and delays. By testing this tool in over 1,200 adults with shoulder trauma, researchers hope to improve care and reduce unnecessary imaging.
