Heart study aims to cut bleeding risk for seniors by shortening blood thinner use
NCT ID NCT07164859
Summary
This study is for people 65 and older who have had a stent placed to open a blocked heart artery. It compares two approaches to prevent blood clots after the procedure. One group takes two blood-thinning pills for just one week, then continues with only one. The other group takes both pills for 3 to 12 months, which is the current standard. The goal is to see if the shorter treatment is just as good at preventing heart problems while causing fewer serious bleeding events.
