Study tests cutting antibiotic time in half for serious foot infections

NCT ID NCT05074147

Summary

This study aimed to see if a shorter, 3-week course of antibiotics works as well as the standard 6-week course for treating bone infections in diabetic feet, when surgery isn't performed. It planned to compare the rates of infection remission, wound healing, and amputation between the two groups. The goal was to reduce antibiotic use to help fight drug-resistant bacteria while still effectively controlling the infection.
