First seen Jan 03, 2026 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 24 times

Summary

This study looked at whether getting blood sugar under control for a short time before major abdominal surgery can lower the chance of problems or death. It included 53 adults with uncontrolled diabetes (HbA1c of 7.5% or higher) who were scheduled for surgery lasting over 2 hours. The main goal was to see how many days patients spent at home in the 30 days after surgery.
