New program aims to ease tough dialysis decisions for families in the ICU

Summary
This study tests a structured program to help family members make difficult decisions about starting emergency dialysis for a loved one with acute kidney injury in the ICU. About 100 family members will be randomly assigned to receive either the program or standard care. Researchers will measure whether the program reduces decision conflict, regret, anxiety, and depression among family members.
