New decision aid aims to ease anxiety for rare heart condition patients
NCT ID NCT07544979
First seen May 05, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 4 times
Summary
This study aims to create a decision aid for people with a rare heart condition called anomalous aortic origin of a coronary artery (AAOCA), where a coronary artery starts from the wrong place. The condition can raise the risk of sudden cardiac death, but the best treatment—surgery or monitoring—isn't always clear. Researchers will work with 60 patients, families, and doctors to build and test a tool that helps people make more confident, informed choices and reduces anxiety.
