Summary
This phase 2 trial will test whether empagliflozin (Jardiance), a drug already used for diabetes, can improve blood vessel health and exercise capacity in 52 veterans with non-diabetic chronic kidney disease. Participants will take either the drug or a placebo for a period, and researchers will measure changes in artery function and leg blood flow. The goal is to see if this drug offers benefits beyond blood sugar control.
