Could your gender raise your risk of Post-Surgery confusion? family visits may hold the key.
NCT ID NCT07502391
First seen Apr 04, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 8 times
Summary
This study watches 471 older adults (65+) after surgery to see if women are more likely than men to develop postoperative delirium—sudden confusion and attention problems. It also tracks whether women receive fewer family visits, which might protect against delirium. No treatments are tested; the goal is simply to gather information to guide future care.
