New hope for kids with brittle bones: trial tests drug to reduce fractures

NCT ID NCT05768854

Summary

This study is testing whether a new drug called setrusumab works better than the current standard treatment (bisphosphonates) at reducing broken bones in children with osteogenesis imperfecta, a genetic condition that causes fragile bones. Children aged 2 to 7 with a history of fractures will receive either the new drug or the standard treatment for two years, then all will switch to the new drug. The main goal is to see which treatment leads to fewer fractures.
