New hope for kids with brittle bones: trial tests potential breakthrough treatment

NCT ID NCT05768854

Summary

This study aims to see if a new medicine called setrusumab works better than the current standard treatment (bisphosphonates) at reducing broken bones in children with osteogenesis imperfecta, also known as brittle bone disease. Children aged 2 to under 7 with specific types of the condition will receive either the new medicine or the standard treatment for up to two years, then all will switch to the new medicine. The main goal is to measure which treatment leads to fewer fractures.
