New hope for advanced breast cancer: drug combo targets resistant tumors

Summary
This study tests a combination of two drugs, fulvestrant and alpelisib, in people with a specific type of advanced breast cancer (HR+ HER2- with a PIK3CA mutation) whose disease has worsened while on fulvestrant alone. About 130 participants will continue fulvestrant and add alpelisib to see if this slows cancer growth. The goal is to find a new treatment option for those who have run out of standard therapies.
