Immune cell recovery: a crystal ball for sepsis survival?
NCT ID NCT07787780
First seen Aug 26, 2026 · Last updated Aug 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looks back at medical records of adults with sepsis in the ICU to see if the way their immune cells (CD4+ and CD8+ T-cells) recover early on is linked to their chances of surviving 28 days. By grouping patients based on these recovery patterns, researchers hope to find clues that help identify who is at higher risk. No treatments are given; it is purely an observational study.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could help doctors identify high-risk sepsis patients earlier and tailor monitoring or treatment strategies.
- What could go wrong
- This is a retrospective observational study, so it cannot prove cause and effect. The findings may not apply to all sepsis patients or lead to direct changes in care.
