Blood protein may outshine lactic acid in sepsis prognosis
NCT ID NCT07289906
First seen Dec 24, 2025 · Last updated Jun 18, 2026 · Updated 23 times
Summary
This study is looking at whether changes in a blood protein called albumin can predict how well ICU patients with sepsis will do, compared to the usual test for lactic acid. Researchers will track 40 non-surgical ICU patients to see which marker better predicts recovery or death. The goal is to find a more accurate way to guide treatment decisions.
