Computer models aim to predict deadly infections in fragile newborns

NCT ID NCT07254559

First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated Jun 12, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This pilot study tested whether computer models could predict sepsis and necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) in very low birth weight infants (under 1500 grams). Researchers used existing NICU data to build and test these models. The goal was to see if this approach is feasible, not yet to change care. 144 infants were included.
