New lymph node test could reduce surgery risks for uterine cancer patients

NCT ID NCT02598219

Summary

This study compares two surgical approaches for checking if early-stage endometrial (uterine) cancer has spread to nearby lymph nodes. Patients are randomly assigned to either a newer, less invasive 'sentinel node' biopsy or the current standard, more extensive lymph node removal. The goal is to see if the sentinel node method is just as effective at detecting cancer spread while causing fewer complications.
