Weight-Loss drug may also help curb drinking, new study suggests

NCT ID NCT06546384

Summary

This study is testing if a medication called semaglutide, which is used for weight loss and diabetes, can also help people with obesity and fatty liver disease drink less alcohol or stop drinking altogether. Researchers will compare two groups: one group will receive the medication plus counseling, and the other will receive counseling alone. The main goal is to see if the medication leads to more people achieving complete abstinence from alcohol over 16 weeks.
