Could a popular Weight-Loss drug also help people drink less?

NCT ID NCT06546384

Summary

This study is testing if a medication called semaglutide, which is already used for weight loss and diabetes, can help people with obesity and fatty liver disease drink less alcohol or stop drinking altogether. Over 16 weeks, researchers will compare people who receive the drug plus counseling to those who receive only counseling. The main goal is to see if the medication leads to more people achieving complete abstinence from alcohol.
