Deeper swab may improve anal cancer detection
NCT ID NCT07085845
First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 28 times
Summary
This study tested whether a deeper self-collected swab (5 cm) is better than a shallower one (3 cm) at collecting cells from the area most likely to turn into anal cancer. 50 adults at higher risk for anal cancer participated. The goal was to find the best way to screen for anal cancer using a self-swab, not to treat the disease.
