Self-Compassion may boost wellbeing after dementia diagnosis

NCT ID NCT06465173

First seen May 05, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 3 times

Summary

This study looked at whether self-compassion (being kind to yourself) helps older adults feel better about life after a dementia diagnosis. Researchers also checked if feeling threatened by dementia affects this link. 23 older adults with a recent dementia diagnosis took part in interviews and surveys. The goal is to understand emotional adjustment, not to test a treatment.
