Less invasive lung surgery may be just as effective for certain tumors
NCT ID NCT07169903
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 27 times
Summary
This study compares two types of lung cancer surgery—segmentectomy (removing only part of a lung lobe) and lobectomy (removing an entire lobe)—for people with a specific type of early-stage lung cancer (2-3 cm tumors). About 587 adults aged 20-79 will be randomly assigned to one surgery and followed for 5 years. The goal is to see if the smaller surgery works just as well while helping preserve more lung function.
