New study tests safer lung reopening methods for ICU patients
NCT ID NCT07442708
First seen Mar 11, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 7 times
Summary
This study looks at two methods to reopen collapsed parts of the lung in patients on breathing machines. One method uses a small camera to target air pressure directly to the blocked area, while the other applies increased pressure to the whole lung. The goal is to see which approach is safer and more effective. Twenty ICU patients with confirmed lung collapse will take part, and their oxygen levels and heart stability will be closely watched.
