New study tests safer lung reopening methods for ICU patients
NCT ID NCT07442708
First seen Mar 11, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study looks at two methods to reopen collapsed sections of lung in patients on breathing machines. One method uses a small camera to target air pressure directly to the blocked area, while the other applies increased pressure to the whole lung. The goal is to find which approach is safer and works better. The trial will involve 20 ICU patients and monitor for any breathing or heart problems during and after the procedure.
