Heart surgery ICU sedation under the microscope: new study aims to improve care
NCT ID NCT07350109
First seen Jan 20, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 11 times
Summary
This study watches how deeply heart surgery patients are sedated in the ICU using a brain activity monitor. It does not change their care, just observes. The goal is to learn how often patients are too deeply sedated and if that affects recovery, like how long they need a breathing tube or if they get infections. About 50 adults from two Austrian hospitals will take part.
