Light-Activated tooth treatment shows promise for Kids' cavities
NCT ID NCT07250009
First seen Jan 06, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 20 times
Summary
This study looked at 40 children aged 4-9 with cavities in their baby molars. After removing the decay, dentists applied a liquid called silver diamine fluoride (SDF) to stop remaining germs. Half the kids also had a blue LED light shined on the tooth for 20 seconds. The goal was to see if the light helps the SDF work better. Cavity activity was measured right after and one week later using a special laser device. The results could lead to simpler, less scary cavity treatments for children.
