Brain drug tested: does it work better for men or women with schizophrenia?
NCT ID NCT07122895
Summary
This study is testing whether a new drug that targets a specific brain receptor works differently for men and women to help control the 'negative symptoms' of schizophrenia, like lack of motivation and social withdrawal. 90 participants with stable schizophrenia will continue their regular medication and be randomly assigned to receive either the experimental drug or a placebo for 12 weeks. Researchers will measure changes in symptoms, thinking skills, and quality of life to see if the treatment is effective and if men and women respond differently.
