First seen Mar 10, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 11 times
Summary
This Phase 3 trial tests whether automated red blood cell exchange (a type of blood transfusion) plus standard care can lower the number of sickle cell disease flare-ups that require emergency care or cause death over 12 months. It involves 173 adults with sickle cell disease who are at high risk of complications. Participants are randomly assigned to receive either automated exchange transfusions or standard care alone.
