First seen Feb 23, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 13 times
Summary
This study tested two hands-on treatments—muscle energy technique and a modified active release technique—in 46 adults with scapulocostal syndrome (pain around the shoulder blade). The goal was to see which better reduces pain, improves chest expansion, and eases daily disability. Participants received one of the two therapies over several weeks, and their progress was measured using pain scales, neck disability scores, and chest expansion measurements.
