Blood markers may reveal hidden stroke danger in silent AFib patients
NCT ID NCT02840201
First seen May 12, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study examined whether certain blood markers (like proBNP and hsTnT) can predict stroke and other complications in people with device-detected subclinical atrial fibrillation (silent AFib). Researchers enrolled 321 adults with pacemakers or heart monitors who had short episodes of AFib. The goal was to see if these markers could help identify who might benefit from blood-thinning treatment. No new treatment was tested; this was an observational sub-study.
