Silent heart alarm: blood markers may reveal hidden stroke risk
NCT ID NCT02840201
First seen May 12, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study examined whether certain blood markers (like proBNP and hsTnT) can predict the risk of stroke and other heart problems in people who have short, symptom-free episodes of atrial fibrillation detected by heart devices. Researchers analyzed data from 321 participants with pacemakers or heart monitors. The goal was to better understand who might benefit from blood-thinning medication, not to test a new treatment.
